Last Call at Harry's CD Now Available
Local bands have contributed music and love to help Harry's Blues Bar raise funds for new construction.
The CD includes 12 songs, all performed in what John Koerner would call "70s Bar Style", all recorded live at Harry's this year. Contributing artists included the Love Dogs, Racky Thomas, Rick Russell, the Radio Kings, Johnny Hoy & the Bluefish, the Matthew Stubbs Band, and the Paul Rishell & Annie Raines Band (note to self: think of a name, already!). Harry's is a tiny time-warp of a blues club in Hyannis (Cape Cod), MA. Every weekend night for the last 20 years, locals and tourists aged 21 to "Stopped Counting at 50" have crowded onto eight square feet of dance floor and boogied their hearts out for hours. They would probably do this if any of the bands just got up and hit two rocks together, but they flatter us that they enjoy the music and in fact it does all of us musicians good to play for people who like to move to the beat. The live CD is the brainchild of Harry's owner Laddie Durham, who is preparing to break ground on a larger version of the club on the adjacent property. She wanted to raise some funds and also have a momento of the last days of the small club, which will be demolished after the new club opens. It is always a pleasure to work with Laddie and we were very happy to be able to contribute a great live version of "Moving to the Country", featuring special guest Troy Gonyea, to the CD.
